Liga 1 Club Still Based On Prospective Chairman Of PSSI

JAKARTA - PSSI has scheduled an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) in March 2023. The agenda is the election of the general chairman and the ranks of the new executive committee.

A number of names began to appear to the surface as candidates for Mochamad Iriawan's successor. In fact, several League 2 clubs have won several names.

So what about League 1 clubs? They are reluctant to speak out about a potential figure to become a candidate for chairman of PSSI who will be selected in the KLB later.

"It's too far to talk about it, especially when we're still a new team. So we hope whoever is elected, hopefully the best," said RANS club president Nusantara FC, Roofi Ardian, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 5.

Roofi also refused to respond to the names that had been circulating in the community and were deemed worthy of leading PSSI. One of them is SOE Minister Erick Thohir.

"We don't want to go that way," he said.

A similar opinion was also expressed by the President Director of PT Polana Bola Madura Bersatu (PBMB), the company that oversees Madura United club, Zia Ul Haq. According to him, MU does not want to comment on the new chairmanship candidate PSSI.

"The PSSI Election Committee will present the candidates later. After that, then we can talk about A, B, C," he said.

PSSI has decided to accelerate the implementation of the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) for the election of the new chairman and Exco members, which normally will be held in November 2023, after holding an emergency meeting on October 28, 2022 at the PSSI Office, Jakarta.

The organization, which is now led by General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, has also reported to FIFA that the KLB, to elect the general chairman, deputy general chairman and members of the new Executive Committee (Exco), will be held on March 18, 2023.

PSSI also informed FIFA that, previously, there was a congress to determine the Election Committee (KP) and the Electoral Appeal Committee (KBP) on January 7, 2023.

PSSI is waiting for FIFA's approval and recommendation of the report until November 7, 2022, to immediately inform all its members about the KLB and its stages.

The pressure to PSSI to immediately hold the KLB initially came from the Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF) formed by the Government of Indonesia following the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, which killed 135 people and injured hundreds more.
