JAKARTA - Borussia Dortmund player Youssoufa Moukoko broke the record for the youngest player in the Champions League, previously held by Celestine Babayaro, when he was played in the Dortmund match against Zenit St Petersburg, Tuesday local time or Wednesday morning WIB.

In the match which Dortmund won 2-1, Moukoko was played as a substitute for Felix Passlack in the 58th minute. He is listed on the official UEFA website, being 16 years 18 days old.

Babayaro as the previous record holder made the same thing when he was 16 years 87 days, when he played in Anderlecht's match against Steaua Bucharest which ended in a 1-1 draw in 1994.

Earlier, on 21 November, Cameroon-born Moukoko had become the youngest player to play in the German League at the age of 16 years and one day.

His sensational progress, which has been recorded through several levels of youth teams in recent seasons, has made Moukoko one of the best players of his generation.

Moukoko has played for the Germany U-20 national team, and regularly plays above his age group while pursuing a career as a youth player at Dortmund. He has a record 141 goals in 81 games for Dortmund U-17 and U-19.

In the U-19 team this season alone, he has recorded ten goals in three appearances.
