Erik Ten Hag Qualifies Pep Guardiola's Comment Regarding MU Including Favorite Champions

JAKARTA Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag denied Pep Guardiola's comments regarding Manchester United, including favorites to win the Premier League title race 2022/2023.

The response was delivered by ten Hag after getting three points thanks to a 1-0 win over West Ham United in the 14th week at Old Trafford Stadium, Sunday night. Marcus Rashford scored the winning single goal.

"It's a great compliment, but I also see a lot of room for improvement in our game and we have to [improve] if we want to compete for the top four. We have to improve," said ten Hag, reported by Manchester Evening.

"The second half, of course, we were very bad at possession, there was a lot of space on the pitch, we lost the ball too easily, a lot of decisions were wrong," the former Ajax Amsterdam coach added.

Guardiola on several occasions said that Manchester United are currently really good since their coach was taken over by the Dutch coach.

MU is considered more consistent after starting a difficult start to the season. In the English Premier League, they have even been unbeaten since they last fell 3-6 from city rivals Manchester City, which Guardiola takes care of.

"I said I like what I see from United now. There will be many teams like United competing [to win the Premier League]. That's why you have to fight to qualify for the Champions League and fight for the title," Guardiola said.

Victory against the Hammers put United well into fifth place in the standings with a collection of 23 points. They are only one point adrift of Newcastle United who filled the final spot in the top four.

So far ten Hag's men have secured seven wins from 12 matches that have been played. Their other five matches were two draws and three defeats.

The two results of the series they got in their last five matches, the remaining three of which they managed to get maximum points. This means that the Red Devils have secured eleven points since losing to City on October 2.
