Arteta Said About Arsenal's Weight Results With Southampton: We Must Be More Dare And Consistent

JAKARTA - Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta feels his team needs more courage and consistency. Arteta said that after the Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton.

A draw at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday, October 24, the Gunners experienced the first time during the 2022/2023 Premier League. It also made Arsenal's distance from Manchester City thinner.

Although this result still allows Arsenal to extend their unbeaten record to nine games in all competitions, Arteta cannot hide his frustration.

"I feel like we've lost two points, especially with the way we started the game and the chances we had. When you look back at the chances, we should have won," Arteta was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Monday.

In the Premier League, unfortunately, when you don't maximize your chances when you're at the top of the game, you can pay the price," said Arteta.

Reflecting on the results and process of his team playing in the match against Southampton, Arteta assessed that his team's way of playing had to be improved. The coach wanted the team to be more consistent and dare to attack.

"We have to be bolder and more consistent and more reliable in possession of the ball, and dominate the game better when we have complete control," Arteta said.

According to Arteta, in this match, Arsenal gave too many balls in a very dangerous area and without much pressure. That didn't allow the Gunners to continue consistency in the first half.

And then you're more tired as the game becomes more open and there's more transition and you're more tired.

"We ended the game over them and we tried to score a second goal but we didn't find a way to do it," said Arteta.
