JAKARTA - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirms its commitment to help PSSI rise and improve the quality of Indonesian football in the spotlight after the Judicial Tragedy earlier this month.

"We offer constant assistance to PSSI and Indonesian football competitions," said Deputy Secretary General of AFC Shin Mon Gil in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

Shin stated that PSSI is one of the most important members of the AFC, so that his party will provide maximum assistance in an effort to improve Indonesian football which was tarnished by the Correspondence Tragedy.

One of them, AFC has assigned their security and safety experts, namely Datuk Dell Akbar Khan and Brian Johnson, to cooperate with FIFA, PSSI and the Indonesian Government to evaluate stadiums in the country.

Shin also expressed his condolences to the incident that killed 132 people and left hundreds more hospitalized.

"AFC doesn't want similar incidents to happen again in football competitions. We want football competitions in Indonesia to run well again and can be enjoyed without security issues," said Shin.

AFC together with FIFA were present in Indonesia to help PSSI evaluate the Kanjuruhan Tragedy so that the event does not happen again in the future.

Since last Tuesday, FIFA Development Project Coordinator Niko Nhouvannasak and Chen Jun together with FIFA Security and Safety Consultant Serge Dumotier have met and coordinated with PSSI regarding the Correspondence Tragedy.

A day later, Shin also met coordinating with PSSI.

The Indonesian League 1 and 2 professional soccer competitions and the Regional 3 Leagues were temporarily suspended by PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), following the recommendations of the Independent Fact Findings Joint Team (TGIPF) for the Development Tragedy formed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a letter has expressed his readiness to assist the Indonesian government, PSSI, and AFC in efforts to transform Indonesian football.
