JAKARTA - LCR racer Honda Takaaki Nakagami has been ruled out of the Australian MotoGP race this weekend. The Japanese champion is still in the process of recovering after surgery from a finger injury.

The race in Australia will take place on Monday, October 17th. The position of Nakagami will be replaced by Tetsuta Nagashima.

This is the second straight race the 30-year-old missed. He was previously replaced by Tetsuta when he missed the Thai Grand Prix due to the same problem.

Nakagami suffered a finger injury a week earlier in MotoGP Aragon. However, he is still desperate to go down to race in Japan.

He then underwent a torn finger tendon operation after racing at home. In total he has undergone two operations to recover his injury.

Currently, Nakagami sits in 18th place in the 2022 MotoGP standings with a collection of 46 points. The top position is still inhabited by defending champion Fabio Quartararo who collected 219 points.

Quartararo's position to defend the title is still not safe. The reason is, the French rider is only two points adrift of Francesco Bagnaia who is in second place.
