F1 Japan 2022 Qualification Results: Pole Position Big Mengel Title World Champion

JAKARTA - Red Bull Racing racer Max Verstappen won pole position after becoming the fastest in the qualifying session for Formula 1 (F1) for the Japanese GP, at the SUzuka Circuit on Saturday, October 8.

Verstappen recorded a time of 1 minute 29.304 seconds. Behind Verstappen, there was rival Charles Leclerc who recorded a time of 1 minute 29.314 seconds or only 0.10 seconds from Verstappen.

Since the first qualifying (Q1) Verstappen has shown a promising performance. Even though Verstappen was left behind at the start of the lap, Verstappen was able to overtake Yuki Tsunoda from Alpha Tauri who started Q1 in pole position.

Towards the end of the Q1 session, Sergio Perez managed to push to the top after winning 0.8 seconds from Londo Norris. The position did not last long because Verstappen took the lead again until Q1 was completed.

In the Q2 session Verstappen still maintains the fastest position. While his teammate, Perez, pushed up to third place and Sebastian Vettel secured fifth.

Continuing to the Q3 session, Verstappen's top spot was captured by Leclerc with a time of 1 minute 29.557 seconds. He was 0.2 seconds ahead of Sainz and 0.4 seconds from Perez who was in second and third place.

However, seven minutes before the session ended, Verstappen was again able to take the lead with a time of 1 minute 29.304 seconds. The record was superior to those of Leclerc, Sainz, Perez, Alonso, Russel and Hamilton.

Until the session ended, Verstappen was still able to maintain his position as the fastest.

This record makes him have a great chance of sealing the 2022 F1 world title. If he maintains the leading position until the end of the race, this Dutchman could no longer be overtaken by his rivals.

Currently, Verstappen leads the 2022 drivers' standings with 341. He is 104 points ahead of Leclerc.
