Reflecting On TheChange Tragedy, The Minister Of Youth And Sports Will Examination Of Regional Government-Owned Stadiums Regarding Login-Entrance Access

JAKARTA - After the incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, which killed 131 Aremania, Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali immediately held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor). Held with sports stakeholders, the coordination meeting discussed evaluating the improvement of football safety procedures.

As a result, Menpora will conduct a thorough audit of the regional government's stadium which is the location for the implementation of League 1, League 2 and League 3. This is in accordance with President Jokowi's direction.

"A thorough audit of the existence of the stadiums (owned by the Regional Government) which will be used by clubs from Liga 1 League 2 and League 3," said the Menpora during a press conference at the Wisma Kemenpora, Thursday, October 6 afternoon.

From the audit to be carried out, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized the main aspects related to in-depth access and audience flow at stadiums related to safety.

"Things that are prioritized (in this audit) are mainly about exit and entry, then other places that need attention," he added.

For the stadium to be audited, Zainudin Amali said that his party would prioritize the stadiums that were being released. Then after everything has been finished, it will expand to other regional governments' stadiums.

At least 131 people died in the Kanjuruhan Stadium incident, Saturday, October 1. A tear gas shot directed at the stands made the audience run away.

Unfortunately, when trying to find a way out of the stands, a number of exit access were closed. The jostling situation and panic that occurred were strongly suspected to be one of the triggers for the hundreds of fatalities after the Arema FC vs Persebaya match.
