Edinson Cavani Is Ready To Resolve PSG's Grudge And Embarrassment

JAKARTA - Edinson Cavani has proven why he was rewarded with a two-year contract by Manchester United when he led his team to win even though they were behind 0-2 against Southampton last weekend.

The 33-year-old came on as a substitute as United trailed 0-2 to score two goals and set up another for Bruno Fernandes.

But that success has been undermined by the possibility of Cavani being suspended from playing in the Premier League for reckless social media posts. He wrote the Spanish word "negrito" which means little black when he thanked a friend who congratulated him.

However, Cavani will be ready to participate in a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League match on the day after tomorrow, which is his chance to get revenge for being knocked out by the French champions.

PSG's all-time top scorer was allowed to leave on a free transfer when his contract expired in June and left hanging when the Paris club reached the Champions League final for the first time last August.

He indulged himself in his hometown in Uruguay until United called him up in the final days of the October transfer window with a deal worth £ 210,000 per week.

Seven months off the grass field meant Cavani needed time to do well for Manchester until the impact was felt against Southampton. In this match he showed off his predatory instincts in the opponent's penalty box, making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men look terrible in front of goal.

We want to combine it and Edinson has a big influence," continued Solksjaer.

Cavani has only started as a starter during Solskjaer's deal when he beat Istanbul Basaksehir 4-1 last week. But it is not impossible that he is now Solksjaer's first choice, including against PSG, who are three points behind Solskjaer's squad and will be eliminated if they lose again against United.

For Cavani himself, getting rid of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi who took his place at the Parc des Princes, from Europe's elite competition, would be sweet retribution for Cavani for PSG's treatment of him.

Cavani's parents complained PSG did not show the respect Cavani should have received when his playing time under Thomas Tuchel drastically reduced after Icardi arrived last summer.

Tuchel himself has been under the spotlight amid growing dissatisfaction with PSG's performances at home and abroad.
