JAKARTA - Two Mexican strikers who starred in Major League Soccer (MLS) were again ruled out by El Tri coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernández of Los Angeles Galaxy and Carlos Vela of Los Angeles FC will not be part of a team that shares Group C with Argentina, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.

"In the case of Chicharito (Hernndez), we only went with other strikers," Martino was quoted as saying by Marca, Tuesday.

"We will try to choose the 26 players closest to our game."

As for Vela, the former Real Sociedad striker revealed the reason why he didn't want to be in Qatar in November for personal reasons.

When I am available and playing for Mexico, I am excited to play in the World Cup and defend my country. But there are stages in football and life," Vela said some time ago.
