Floyd Mayweather No More Intention Against Manny Pacquiao Again

JAKARTA Former heavyweight boxer Floyd Mayweather has no intention of fighting former rival Manny Pacquiao despite just in an exhibition match.

Mayweather just won a knockout victory (KO) over MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura in an exhibition duel on Sunday last weekend. This is his fourth exhibition match since retiring with a record 50-0 from professional boxing in 2017.

The former 45-year-old boxer had the victory before Pacquiao who watched live at Saitama Super Arena. Therefore, after Mayweather's match was asked of the possibility of another duel with Pacquiao, he dismissed it.

"Manny (Pacquiao) had a great career, but boxing that retired from Manny, Manny didn't retire from boxing. There's a difference," Mayweather said.

Currently, there are still many people who want a rematch between the two boxer legends after their first meeting in the ring in 2015. At that time, Mayweather came out victorious through an absolute decision.

The victory made Mayweather win the WBA, WBC, WBo, and The Ring welterweight world titles. For this reason, their second volume of duels are eagerly awaited by boxing lovers.

However, Mayweather seemed to rule out that possibility because he was no longer what he used to be. The boxer nicknamed The Money tends to choose MMA or Youtuber fighters as his opponent.

"Of course, if I were Manny Pacquiao, would I be chasing an exhibition with Floyd Mayweather for a fee? Of course I would," Mayweather said.

"But right now, I like to fight with fighters who have a record of 15-0, 8-0. younger fighters like me, or Youtubers or MMA fighters. I will continue to do what I do, regulate, and control," he added.

Several reports call Pacquiao in his plans to return to boxing ring after retiring in 2021. He is even said to have challenged Mayweather for them to rematch even in exhibition matches.
