Shakira Unloads Feelings After Dik Betrays Pique: I Put My Career Aside To Support It

JAKARTA - Singer Shakira has finally been outspoken about her separation from footballer, Gerard Pique. Shakira admitted that she was willing to put her career aside to support Pique.

Shakira and Pique were previously known as couples far from slanted news. The two have even been in a relationship for 12 years and have two children.

However, the harmonious story that began during the meeting at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa recently ran aground. The footballer pair and singer finally separated because it was strongly suspected that the cause was Pique's affair.

Although in the end they have to choose their own path, Shakira still has memories that she keeps with Pique. In an interview with ELLE magazine, the pop superstar singer revealed how willing he was to sacrifice his career to support Pique's career.

"I put my career in second place and I came to Spain to support it, so he could play football and win titles and it was a sacrifice of love," he was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

With the biggest sacrifice he has ever made, Shakira clearly feels that this separation is a painful thing. He didn't even deny that a difficult situation emerged after he was no longer with Pique.

It's tough, not only for me, but also for my kids. It's very difficult, I try to hide the situation from them as much as I can," he said.

It's really disappointing for two children who are trying to process their parents' separation. And sometimes, I just feel like this is all a nightmare and I'm going to wake up. But no, it's real," Shakira continued.

Shakira said she and the Barcelona player were committed to sticking together to compromise to ensure that their children grew well and had a decent life.

"Despite how things end or how Gerrard (Pique) and I feel about each other as a former couple, he is the father of my children," he said.

We have work to do for these two amazing boys. And I have confidence that we will find out what to do best for their future, their own dreams in life, and what a fair solution to everyone involved is," said Shakira.
