U-20 2023 Asian Cup Qualification Standings: Indonesia Sits Peak, Second Vietnam

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team U-20 managed to top the standings in Group F of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers after undergoing two matches.

Shin Tae Yong's squad has the right to move up to the top spot after winning 5-1 over Hong Kong in the second match at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Friday, September 16 evening WIB.

Marselino Ferdinand bought up two of the five winning goals, each in the 86th minute and a penalty in the 90th minute. Meanwhile, the other three goals were netted by Rabbani Tasnim, Alfriyanto Nico, and Zanadin Fariz.

Three points made the Garuda squad shift Vietnam from the top position even though the points and goal difference were the same. So far both teams have collected six points, scored nine goals, and only conceded one.

However, Indonesia U-20 has the right to be in the highest place because of its superior disciplinary points. This disciplinary point is calculated based on the number of yellow cards received by each team.

Currently, Indonesia has only received two yellow cards, while Vietnam has received three yellow cards. Each yellow card reduces one disciplinary point, while the red card will reduce the three points.

The two yellow cards made Indonesia recorded minus two disciplinary points. Meanwhile, Vietnam has minus three disciplinary points as a consequence of the three yellow cards they received.

Indonesia and Vietnam will meet in the final group stage match at the GBT Stadium on Sunday, September 18. The winner of the match is definitely straight to next year's finals.
