Pelita Jaya Wins Against West Bandits In Game 1

JAKARTA - Pelita Jaya Bakrie Jakarta won Game 1 of the 2022 Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) semifinals against West Bandits Combiphar Solo after Fictor Roring's team rose in the second half to win 80-71 at GOR C-Tra Arena, Bandung, Saturday, August 20.

Pelita Jaya had fallen behind by 17 points in the first half, but they slowly closed the gap thanks to a series of accurate shots that were scored in the early minutes of the third quarter.

West Bandits was only able to reply to scoring after four minutes into the third quarter through Widyanta Putra Teja's layup. However, after that, Raoul Miguel Hadinoto's team still seemed to have difficulty penetrating Pelita Jaya's defense so they were only able to pack six points during the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Andakara Prastawa et al continued to score a series of points during that period to take over the advantage at 56-55 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Pelita Jaya added 24 points to close the first semifinal match with an 80-71 victory.

Dior Lowhorn led Pelita Jaya's scoring with 19 points and 7 rebounds, Decardo Romero Day added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Meanwhile, local players Vincent Kosasih contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds.

From West Bandits, Sameen Swint won a double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rio Disi and Widyanta Teja had 14 points each.

West Bandits must win Game 2 which will be played on Sunday, August 21 tomorrow if they want to maintain their chances of reaching the IBL 2022 final. If Pelita Jaya fails to win tomorrow, then the semifinals will continue to Game 3 on Tuesday, August 23 next week.
