Tracing The UFC Performance Institute, Advanced Facilities Worth IDR 216 Billion Free For Fighters

JAKARTA - The UFC really cares about its fighters. In fact, they provide a place where fighters don't have to bother spending money to go through their training, recovery, and various diet programs.

The place is named the Performance Institute (PI). This is a state-of-the-art facility built on an area of 2,800 square meters at a cost of £12 million or equivalent to Rp216 billion.

The Institute is located in Enterprise, Las Vegas, United States, and officially opened in May 2017. Various facilities in it are provided for all UFC fighters free of charge.

Services offered include exercise and recovery equipment. Among these are oxygen chambers, underwater treadmills, and diet plans for athletes.

Other training facilities include a large boxing ring, a free fighting octagon, a bag, as well as various fitness equipment.

There are also nutrition consultants assigned to help advise fighters on what to eat and how to lose weight safely.

In addition, the fighter is also spoiled for a variety of healthy snacks that offer protein shakes, yogurt, fruit, and supplements.

Then there is also a therapy room to help the fighters recover. The room has a full body laser light therapy pod as well as a Cryosense room.

Not far away was an underwater treadmill room and hot and cold tubs, which were used for recovery. Saunas and steam rooms are also available to assist athletes post-workout or for diet programs.

Furthermore, the institute also has physio and offers a variety of options including dry needling, cupping, and Pilates. This allows UFC stars to recover from injuries through rehabilitation at no additional cost.

UFC star Conor McGregor was noted to have used a PI before the boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2017. At that time, McGregor used the hypoxia chamber extensively for practice.

This chamber simulates an altitude of up to 22,000 feet, which automatically reduces oxygen levels by up to 50 percent.

Not only contracted UFC fighters can use the facility, NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB athletes can also take advantage of it.

In June 2019 a second facility opened in Shanghai. The facility's official name is UFC Performance Institute Shanghai. This place was used to train athletes from China for last year's Tokyo Olympics.
