AFF Cup Champion, Indonesian U-16 Team Gets IDR 500 Million Bonus And Opportunity To TC Abroad

JAKARTA - The Indonesian U-16 team won the 2022 AFF Cup. In the final which took place on Friday, August 12, the team nicknamed Garuda Asia won over Vietnam with a score of 1-0.

For this success, Indonesia U-16 received a bonus of Rp. 500 million from PSSI. This adds to the bonus coffers received by Iqbal Gwijangge and his friends.

Previously, they had received Rp100 million for qualifying for the quarter-finals. Then the Bima Sakti team received Rp. 150 million for breaking into the big four.

"We will give Rp500 million to the children. This is according to my promise to them," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, as quoted by Antara.

In addition to getting bonus money, Indonesia U-16s will also be considered for training abroad. According to the Head of PSSI, this overseas training camp (TC) is in preparation for the 2023 U-17 Asian Cup.

The 2021 AFF U-16 Cup title has indeed led Garuda Asia to qualify for the U-17 Asian Cup qualification next year.

"We will discuss internally with the federation. If abroad, it will be clear that the location will be in a country with strong football, such as Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands or others," said the chairman of PSSI.
