JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles badminton player, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo will appear for the first time at the World Badminton Championships. Will undergo a world-class match for the first time, Chico said he was very grateful.

Not wasting this opportunity, Chico said he had undergone thorough preparations in addition to the direction of the coach, Irwansyah. Currently Chico is focusing on maintaining conditions ahead of departure.

"My preparations are quite good, I just need to keep my body and mental condition this week before departure," said Chico in a virtual press conference, Thursday, August 11 at noon WIB.

The 2022 Badminton World Championships will be held in Japan and will take place from August 22-28. Chico, who previously won the Malaysia Masters 2022, was confirmed to participate in the Badminton World Championships after receiving an official invitation from the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Before officially becoming a participant, Chico was on a waiting list. However, he then qualified to replace Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, who was withdrawn by PBSI because he was deemed not ready after suffering a calf injury.

With the opportunity to make his first appearance at the 2022 Badminton World Championships, Chico said he was grateful and determined to perform optimally and try to enjoy his game while in Japan.

“Grateful to be able to appear at the World Championships, I want to bring out the best from the training that has been done before. I want to enjoy the game too, of course," said the Papuan badminton player.

In the Badminton World Championships later, the men's singles sector will send four representatives to appear to defend Indonesia. They are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and one non-training badminton player, Tommy Sugiarto.

Despite appearing as a debutant in the event, Irwansyah as the men's singles coach admitted that he did not provide a special training portion for Chico. Just like the other representatives, Irwansyah only ordered Chico to train his punch strength and stamina.

"The portion is the same as Ginting and Jonatan, because the needs in this sector are evenly distributed. To compete in the World Championships, stroke and endurance must be improved. Mentally is also important, because our strength stems from there, to be more confident on the field," said Irwansyah on the same occasion.
