Unprepared, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito And 2 Indonesian Representatives Withdrawn From The 2022 World Championship

JAKARTA — Men's singles Shesar Hiren Rhustavito will not participate in the 2022 Badminton World Championships which will take place on August 22-28 in Tokyo, Japan.

This assurance was conveyed by the Head of the Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky. Shesar was drawn along with two other representatives, namely Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso and Putri Syaikah, on the grounds that they were not ready to face the competition.

"I previously targeted them that in the last two weeks they couldn't go to the field with a full program, so we'll withdraw them, because they are not ready to compete," said Rionny in an official statement.

Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso is a mixed doubles player with Adnan Maulana, while Putri Syaikah is a women's doubles player with Nita Violina Marwah.

Rionny said that Mychelle had previously undergone therapy with good progress. In addition, he has also tried to train, but can't move normally.

"So he has to go into therapy again, but I think that's the maximum. If in ten days they can't join the full program, I think they're not ready. I also asked the players again, Mychelle said they weren't ready to compete. World Championship 2022," said Rionny.

Meanwhile, Putri Syaikah for the past two months, is still struggling with a knee injury. The player who is familiarly called Chika has shown signs of recovering by jogging and practicing again.

Rionny and the coach are also trying to keep him in the squad. They hoped that he would recover in time so he could go to Japan with him.

"But it turns out to be the same. For the level of international matches or the World Championship, with only two weeks of preparation, even though we force it, I think it is impossible," said Rionny.

Meanwhile, Vito is still struggling with a calf injury. The 28-year-old has actually tried to do strengthening exercises by cycling.

However, in the last two weeks until last week, he was unable to enter the field for training. He had tried several, but still couldn't.

"So we judge that Vito is not ready to compete. When we ask, the athletes feel that they are not ready. So we withdraw as well," explained Rionny.
