Ryan Garcia Knocks Out Javier Garcia In The Sixth Round

JAKARTA - Boxer Ryan Garcia won the duel against Javier Fortuna. This result makes Garcia unbeaten in 23 fights that he has lived.

Garcia, who is a lightweight challenger, dropped his opponent three times at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, United States, on Sunday, July 17 at noon WIB.

Fortuna fell respectively in the fourth, fifth, and previously surrendered in the sixth round. Garcia sent Fortuna to the canvas with a left hook in the 19th second of the sixth round and their match was declared over in the 27th.

"I don't need to say anything. You saw how I fought," Garcia said after the match, reported by the Boxing Scene.

This loss is the fourth loss in Fortuna's career. The boxer from the Dominican Republic now has a 37-41-1 (26 KO) record and two no contests.

This was also the second knockout (KO) or technical knock out (TKO) loss in the 33-year-old boxer's career since making his professional debut in March 2009.

Previously, he had suffered a TKO defeat in the 11th round against Jason Sosa in 2016 in Beijing in the struggle for the WBA world super featherweight title.

Garcia and Fortuna stepped into the ring more than a year after they were first supposed to meet.

At that time, Garcia withdrew from their fight scheduled for July 9 last year citing his mental health.

Joseph Diaz Jr. then replaced Garcia and beat Fortuna by unanimous decision at the Banc of California Stadium.

Diaz won the then-vacant WBC interim lightweight title that Garcia had before he withdrew from the Fortuna fight.
