APG 2022 Para-swimming Arena Repair Progress Is 90 Percent

JAKARTA - The manager of the Jatidiri Swimming Pool Arena, Teguh Santoso, said the progress of repairing the Jatidiri swimming pool, Semarang, which will be used for the ASEAN Para Games XI/2022 para-swimming competition, has reached 90 percent.

Teguh said the main pool and pool for heating have been completed. Currently, his party is focusing on improving access to a disability-friendly road of approximately 200 meters.

"In terms of the swimming pool, it is ready, there are only minor repairs, especially for road access and cleaning of the athlete's warm-up area. Although it is less than a few weeks away, I am optimistic that the swimming pool arena for the ASEAN Para Games Solo 2022 will be ready," said Teguh as quoted by Antara. , Saturday.

According to Teguh, the athlete's comfort is a top priority in the swimming pool renovation process.

"The Jatidiri swimming pool arena has actually been around for a long time, so now it's just an adjustment in the renovation stage," he said.

"We want athletes to be comfortable when competing, especially since this is the biggest event for athletes with disabilities in Southeast Asia," Teguh added.

The ASEAN Para Games XI/2022 will take place on July 30-August 6, 2022. A total of 1,648 athletes from 11 countries are confirmed to be participating in the largest event for athletes with disabilities in Southeast Asia.

In addition to para-swimming, athletes will compete in 13 other branches namely, para-athletic, para-badminton, para-table tennis, para-chess, para-powerlifting, boccia, blind judo, goalball, wheelchair tennis, para-archery. , CP Football, wheelchair basketball and seated volleyball.
