Says Quartararo Is Too Privileged By Yamaha, Dovizioso Decides Not To Continue Racing Next Season

JAKARTA - A big decision was taken by Yamaha rider Andrea Dovizioso regarding his career on the track. He will stop racing next season.

The Italian rider said this because he felt that he was not competitive. What's more, he feels a contrast to his team-mate, Fabio Quartararo, who successfully sits at the top of the standings this half of the season.

"Obviously, I won't be racing, as I said before that I wouldn't continue if I wasn't competitive," he said as quoted by Crash, Friday.

"There's no reason anymore, especially after 20 years, that I'm not trying to get a place next season."

Dovizioso doesn't mind if he has to leave the track. Moreover, he also never felt down on the track for half a season in last year's edition.

"I'm relaxed about this (stopping racing), after all last season I also didn't race for half a year, I've tasted retirement, I'm fine," said Dovi.

Apart from feeling uncompetitive, Dovizioso considers that the factory team he is defending feels one-sided. Called Dovi, currently Yamaha is too supportive of Fabio Quartararo who last season became world champion.

"I think Yamaha at the moment is very unusual. You have a very good feeling, you can turn the bike and brake very well, but there are other parts that are not so good," said Dovizioso.

"If you don't ride like Fabio (Quartararo), it's very difficult to be competitive. If Fabio wins there's reason to be proud of him, but this means there's a chance you'll also have to be like him in terms of speed."
