JAKARTA - Badminton from Denmark, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus again met with Indonesian badminton legend, Taufik Hidayat. Their meeting occurred when Taufik was invited to the podcast The Badminton Experience.

The program is an event organized by Vittinghus and his compatriot, Anders Antonsen. When he met Taufik again, Vittinghus shared unforgettable memories with the legend.

Interestingly, the moment Vittinghus shared actually happened off the field. Yes, what he remembers the most is when Taufik treated him to a beer by chance.

“One of my best memories of you (Taufik Hidayat) is related to beer. At that time we were ordering beer, and you were there," said Vittinghus, quoted from The Badminton Experience's Youtube channel.

“Then you asked us not to pay. So Jorgensen and I got beers, but you take care of the bill. I think we were 20 at the time. We were surprised that a Taufik Hidayat treated us,” he continued.

Vittinghus is one of Denmark's senior men's singles who is still active today. This 36-year-old veteran started his career in 2005.

Judging from that note, Vittinghus is also one of the badminton players who witnessed and participated in Taufik's golden era.

The former world number one men's singles admits that what he did was a habit that was deliberately done to entertain foreign players when participating in matches in Indonesia.

“I think that if there are foreign badminton players in Indonesia, I have to give them something. Like Peter Gade, Mathias Boe and others, I take care of everything," said Taufik cheerfully.
