PSG Doesn't Keep Promise, Discussion About Termination Of Cooperation With Mauricio Pochettino Becomes Hot

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Mauricio Pochettino are still at a stalemate while trying to find an agreement to end their partnership. The barrier arose due to inappropriate compensation costs.

The Argentine won the league title with Les Parisiens last season, but the trophy was not enough for him to stay on as coach. He was reported to have been sacked by PSG last week after failing to win the Champions League.

The split initially seemed amicable after both parties agreed on the amount of compensation. However, a recent US report claims their peace negotiations took a turn for the worse because of a dispute over severance pay.

According to reports, the initial figure set was £17 million. However, PSG instead violated the agreement and wanted to reduce the amount they needed to pay.

The amount he wants to cut does not match Pochettino's request. The 50-year-old coach has no intention of leaving for less than the agreed price.

This is not the first time the former Tottenham Hotspur tactician has received a large severance pay. Previously, Spurs gave him £19.5m when they sacked him in 2019.

Currently, a number of names of potential replacements for Pochettino have been monitored by PSG. One of them is Nice coach Christophe Galtier, who is now the favorite to continue Pochettino's job.

Apart from Galtier, PSG are also said to be eyeing Zinedine Zidane. However, the former Real Madrid coach reportedly has no desire to coach Lionel Messi and his friends.

On the other hand, Pochettino is also likely to be immediately flooded with offers if he leaves PSG. One of them is Athletic Bilbao who reportedly want to get the services of the former Southampton coach.

However, Pochettino is reportedly not too interested in returning to Spain. He reportedly prefers to return to England for another chance at the Premier League.
