JAKARTA - Aprilia Racing's Aleix Espargaro admits that he has a dream to become a world champion. Now, that dream could come true.

Aleix Espargaro is one of the candidates for the 2022 MotoGP champion. He is in tight competition with Fabio Quartararo. Then there are the names of Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco and Francesco Bagnaia who also enliven the competition.

Currently, Aleix Espargaro occupies the second position with 125 points. The Spaniard is 22 points adrift of Quartararo who occupies the top position of the standings with 147 points.

"This is a dream that is starting to come true," Aleix Espargaro said in a television show, as reported by Motosan.

"All my life I dreamed of winning a world championship and this year that dream is becoming more and more real. I witnessed it myself," he continued.

The opportunity for Pol Espargaro's brother is still quite open. There are still 11 races remaining, some of which will be held at his favorite circuit.

In addition, Aleix Espargaro's performance is also fairly consistent so far. He's only been knocked out of the top 10 once. In fact, in the last five races, he has always been on the podium four times.

Finally, he could actually climb the second podium in MotoGP Barcelona. Unfortunately, his fatal blunder on the last lap made Aleix Espargaro lose his chance to finish on the podium and had to settle for fifth position.
