Xavi's Fate After Barcelona Appointed Setien To Be Barca's Coach

JAKARTA - The appointment of Quique Setien as the new head coach of Barcelona leaves Xavi Hernandez's future in doubt. In fact, one of the Barca legends wants to return to the Camp Nou.

The former Los Blaugrana midfielder came close to replacing Ernesto Valverde at Camp Nou, but ended up rejecting an offer by the Catalan club.

Xavi saw his opportunity to train Barcelona to come in the summer than now when he was still the coach of Al-Saad in Qatar. However, it was Setien who was later appointed as Barca's new tactician.

The former Real Betis coach has signed a contract until June 2022. This fact makes Xavi's plans to take over the Barcelona he loves in the near future, extinct.

The 2021 club presidential election will be key to determining whether Xavi will be given the opportunity to become the first team coach again at Barca.

Xavi does not have a good relationship with President Bartomeu, if he remains in the presidency after the election, then Xavi's prospects in the future will be seriously damaged.

Ronald Koeman's future is also unclear. Even though he disclosed publicly, he had a clause in his contract as Dutch coach to go to Barcelona after Euro 2020.
