Italian Grand Prix Stats At Mugello

JAKARTA - This weekend will be the 36th Grand Prix at Mugello, including 29 consecutive races that were held from 1991 to 2019. Here are the statistics for the Italian GP at Mugello as reported by Antara.

Mugello held a Grand Prix for the first time in 1976 when Barry Sheene won the 500cc race by a margin of 0.1 seconds ahead of Phil Read.

The layout of the Mugello Circuit has basically remained unchanged since its debut, with a track length of 5,245km.

Misano is another circuit to have hosted the Italian Grand Prix (1991 and 1993), and Mugello hosted the Nations GP (1976, 1978, 1985) and the San Marino GP (1982, 1984, 1991, 1993), according to the official MotoGP record.

Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi is the rider who has experienced the most success at Mugello with nine victories, seven of them in the MotoGP class.

Jorge Lorenzo is in second place with six MotoGP class wins, beating Mick Doohan who won six times in the 500cc class.

Honda's last victory in the premier class at Mugello was presented by Marc Marquez in 2014 from pole position.

While Yamaha last felt the top podium at Mugello through Fabio Quartararo's victory in 2021 from pole position.

Yamaha bagged 13 wins, including Valentino Rossi's five straight wins from 2004 to 2008 and Jorge Lorenzo's five dominations in 2011,2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

In 2016, Lorenzo beat Marquez by a margin of just 0.019 seconds, making him the tightest eighth-place finish in the premier class.

In 2019, Danilo Petrucci brought Ducati a fourth MotoGP class win at Mugello, following in the footsteps of Casey Stoner (2009), Andrea Dovizioso (2017, the first Italian rider to win in Italy on an Italian bike in the premier class), and Jorge Lorenzo (2018) .

Suzuki has twice won the premier class through Barry Sheene (1976) and Kevin Scwantz (1992). Meanwhile, Suzuki's best result in the MotoGP era was Joan Mir's P3 in 2021.

Meanwhile, KTM's best result at Mugello was Miguel Oliveira's P2 in 2021.

Aprilia had the best P3 finish through Jeremy McWilliams in 2000. While Aleix Espargaro's P7 finish last year was Aprilia's best result at Mugello in the MotoGP era which began in 2002.

Loris Capirossi became the only Italian rider besides Rossi, Dovizioso and Petrucci to take the premier class victory trophy at Mugello, when in 2000 in the 500cc race he beat compatriots Max Biaggi and Rossi, both crashing in the race.

Eight riders have shared the victory at Mugello since 2002 starting with Rossi (7), Lorenzo (6), Dani Pedrosa, Stoner, Marquez, Doviziozo, Petrucci and Quartararo who each took one win.

After Qatar and the United States, Enea Bastianini picked up a third win of the season in France to move six points closer to the top of the table Quartararo still holds (102 points). Aleix Espargaro looms in second place with a distance of four points from the French rider.

At the Italian GP, rookie Marco Bezzecchi will start the 100th GP of his career.

Bezecchi still leads the rookie standings this season with a 19-point lead over Darryn Binder (6), Fabio Di Giannantonio (3) and Remy Gardner (3). Raul Fernandez is the only rookie who has not finished with points this season.
