Occupying The Highest Podium At Number 61 Kg, Eko Yuli Wins A Gold Medal At The SEA Games Hanoi 2021

JAKARTA — Indonesia's flagship lifter, Eko Yuli Irawan, added to Indonesia's medal tally. He managed to win gold at the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi.

Eko occupies the highest podium at the men's 61 kg number on Friday, May 20. The 32-year-old athlete recorded a total of 290 kg in snatch and clean and jerk.

In the snatch force, the silver medal winner of the Olympics made a force of 135 kg. As for the clean and jerk, he succeeded with a lift of 155 kg.

In this event, the representative of Malaysia, Muhamad Azil Bidin, won the silver medal. Meanwhile, the host lifter bagged the bronze medal, Nguyen Ngoc Trung.

Besides Eko, on the same day another gold medal came from cyclist Ayustina Delia Priatna. He successfully won the individual trial time with a record time of 40 minutes 8.445 seconds in a 30 km race.

Ayustina has a 586-second gap ahead of Singapore's Lou Yiwei who won the silver medal. Thailand's Phetdarin Somrat took third place on the podium and got bronze.

Meanwhile, two other gold medals came from the Kano team. The first medal was obtained in the C4 500 meter number which fielded Anwar Tarra, Yuda Firmansyah, Sofiyanto, and Dedi Saputra.

The next medal was won by the couple Raudani Fitra and Stefany Maysche Ibo in the Women's Kayak Double 500 meter event. They beat representatives of Vietnam and Thailand who went home with silver and bronze.

The addition of these four medals makes Indonesia a total of 46 gold medals as of Friday, 13.00 WIB. That number made Merah Putih climb to third place in the medal standings, followed by Singapore in fourth place with the same number of gold medals.

The top position belongs to the hosts who have already produced 153 gold medals. Thailand followed in second place with 62 gold.
