JAKARTA - Then Muhammad Zohri failed to present a medal when he took part in the 4x100 meter relay event at the 2021 SEA Games. He wanted to avenge this failure when he took part in the 100 meter event, Wednesday, May 17.

However, Zohri is reluctant to think that his target of winning a gold medal in the 100 meters will be like a burden. He admitted that he only wanted to focus on his ability to win a gold medal.

"I don't really think about being a burden or not, I just focus on my own abilities," said Zohri, as reported by Antara, Monday, May 17.

Regarding the failure in the 4x100 meter relay, Zohri judged that it was only because it was not his fortune. He hopes that the Indonesian people can pray for him to win a gold medal in the mainstay number.

"The championship has not been able to provide the best for Indonesia, but I hope that the Indonesian people will continue to pray for me on Wednesday at 100 meters," said Zohri.

He also thanked the Indonesian people who always support the team.

Zohri and his friends failed to win a medal after only finishing fourth with a time of 39.65 seconds. They are 0.21 seconds adrift of Singapore who won bronze with a time of 39.44 seconds.

Thailand won the gold medal with a record time of 38.58 seconds. Meanwhile, Malaysia won the silver medal after a time of 39.09 seconds.

The sprinter from West Nusa Tenggara admitted that he rarely practiced in the relay because he was injured. "I haven't been on the field for a month and continue to do therapy, only twice, it seems like relay training," said Zohri.
