JAKARTA - A number of Indonesian musicians from the Indonesian Angklung House Foundation presented an angklung performance at AC Milan's Italian Football Club Headquarters, Casa Milan. This activity is at the invitation of AC Milan Management on 12 May 2022.

The musicians from Rumah Angklung played two pop songs arranged by angklung strains entitled 'Rossoneri' or 'The Red and Black' which is the national anthem of AC Milan supporters, and the song 'Milano Siamo Noi' or 'We are Milan' by Arif Sarifudin, the founder Rumah Angklung Indonesia in 2021 as a special gift for AC Milan who can re-enter the Champions League competition after being absent for seven years.

"I am very interested in the uniqueness of the angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made of bamboo. Your music, costumes, and all your performances are very impressive," said AC Milan Marketing Director Peter Morgan in a press statement from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 15th.

Peter Morgan stated that through the arrangement of the Rossoneri songs and Milano Siamo Noi's songs using the angklung musical instrument, AC Milan Management gives high appreciation for the support of Indonesian musicians for AC Milan Football Club, which has more than 20 million supporters worldwide.

The show was also attended by two legendary AC Milan football players, Daniele Massaro and Franco Baressi, who admitted that they were very impressed with the performance of the Angklung House Team.

"We feel incredible energy through your music. Thank you for the passion for AC Milan," said Baresi, who was an AC Milan player with a heyday in around 1990.

Besides watching the show, the two senior footballers were also said to have signed their authentic angklung and jersey for Milanisti Indonesia.

When playing the show, the musicians of Rumah Angklung wore stage costumes made of traditional Indonesian lurik woven cloth in red and black which matched the AC Milan team uniform with the addition of a touch of batik with the angklung motif typical of Rumah Angklung. The costumes were made in collaboration with 'Apikmen' which is one of the SMEs of Indonesian batik and wastra.

President of Milanisti Indonesia, Arrival, expressed his pride in the success of the angklung show at Milan TV Studio, Casa Milan and hoped to build better communication with AC Milan Management in order to increase Indonesia's cooperation with AC Milan.

The Rumah Angklung show will be broadcast on AC Milan's social media before the AC Milan-Atalanta match at the San Siro Stadium, Milan, on 15 May 2022. The trailer has been shown on AC Milan's Youtube.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Embassy in Rome expressed support for the hard work, active contributions, and efforts of all Indonesian artists to increase the promotion of culture and arts, especially for Indonesian traditional music to become more global.

Art and culture diplomacy, especially the angklung performance at Casa Milan, is considered to be increasingly introducing Indonesia through a fan base network of football fans around the world and increasing Indonesia's positive image in the world.
