Indonesia To The Semifinals Of The 2022 Thomas Cup After Silencing China 3-0

JAKARTA - Indonesia made sure to reach the semifinals of the 2022 Thomas Cup. Mohammad Ahsan and his friends got the top four tickets after beating China.

The clash between China and Indonesia was held at Field 1 Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, May 12 evening WIB. In the party which is a repeat of the 2021 Thomas Cup final, the Red and White team got an easy 3-0 victory.

Men's singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who played in the first party, succeeded in bringing Indonesia to a 1-0 lead over China. He got a dramatic victory against Zhao Jun Peng with a rubber game 21-12, 25-27, 21-17.

This was the world's fifth-ranked athlete's first Thomas Cup win this year. He previously suffered three consecutive defeats in the group stages.

The pair Mohammad Ahsan / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who played in the second match also contributed points. They put Indonesia 2-0 up after beating Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi

Previously in the match against Korea in the last match of the group stage, Ahsan / Kevin were also paired. Unfortunately, at that time they failed to give points due to losing to Kang Minhyuk / Seo Seung Jae.

Jonathan Christie, who played in the third match, then locked the victory for the Garuda squad. The owner of the 2018 SEA Games gold medal won over Li Shi Feng in two straight games to ensure Indonesia advances to the semifinals.

Unfortunately, the success of the Thomas Cup team failed to be followed by the women's team, which had already run aground in the quarter-finals. Bilqis Prasista cs. made to surrender 0-3 against China.
