Persib's New Goalkeeper Fitrul Dwi Said About Choosing To Wear A Number 1: Historic Because It's Been Used Since I Was At SSB

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung's new goalkeeper Fitrul Dwi Rustapa will wear the number one jersey for the 2022/2023 season with the Blue Prince squad.

The number was chosen by the player from Bungbulang, Garut Regency, West Java, because he has a long history in the course of his career.

"Yes, I chose jersey number one. This is a historic jersey number for me because it has been used since I was at SSB (football school)," said Fitrul, quoted by Antara from the club's official website, Saturday.

Since childhood, Fitrul admits that he has been interested in soccer, especially for the goalkeeper position.

Fitrul, who previously strengthened Persipura Jayapura, also admitted that he was comfortable with the number one jersey.

With that, Fitrul hopes to show his best ability in guarding the Maung Bandung team's goal.

"I am comfortable wearing this jersey number. In the past, my father, when he was still actively playing football, wore this jersey number," said the player who idolizes the German national team goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.

Incidentally, Manuel also wears the number one jersey in the German national team and at his club, Bayern Munich.

Persib brought in Fitrul in mid-April to fill the position of goalkeeper for the Blue Prince in the upcoming 2022/2023 League 1.
