Alex Rins Sensational Comeback In MotoGP Portugal: Finishing Fourth After Starting From 23rd Position!

JAKARTA - Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP racer, Fabio Quartararo, may win the MotoGP Portugal race, Sunday, April 24. However, Suzuki Ecstar's Alex Rins is the star.

The Spaniard did a phenomenal race. How not, Alex Rins managed to finish fourth after starting the race from 23rd position!

After the start, Alex Rins had maneuvered to be able to push into the middle position. Slowly but surely, plus there were several incidents of riders falling, he was able to finish the race in the top five positions.

Alex Rins admitted that the race at the Alvagre Portimao Circuit was not easy. He had to fight hard to get past his rivals one by one.

"It's not easy to overtake too many riders. Starting from the 23rd grid and finishing fourth. I struggled a little towards the end of the race with the front tyre, because I kept pressing throughout the race to overtake other riders," Rins said during an interview with MotoGP.

"I thought (to be) on the podium, but after I tried a few times to overtake Aleix Espargaro, but he was a little bit faster than me. Then in the last few laps I started to struggle with the right tire when turning to the right."

"Then I thought about finishing the race, because this is an important point for the championship."

Alex Rins admitted that the weekend in Portimao didn't actually go smoothly. There were several obstacles experienced, both in free practice sessions and qualifying.

However, he remains confident that he can achieve the best results.

"I never stopped believing in myself. I was sure I could have a great race, and we did it," he said.
