Official! Former Borussia Dortmund Boss Thomas Doll Becomes Persija Jakarta Coach

JAKARTA – Persija Jakarta officially appointed Thomas Doll as the new coach. The German coach will coach the Kemayoran Tigers for the next three years.

Persija announced their new coach on Saturday, 23 April. The former Borussia Dortmund coach will fill the position previously left by Sudirman.

"I am honored to be able to join one of the big teams in Indonesia. Of course I really want to be able to take Persija to a higher level. I can't wait to lead training in Jakarta," said the coach in an official statement.

At Persija Jakarta, Thomas Doll does not only act as a coach. The tactician who was born in Malchin, April 9, 1966, will also fill the position as manager.

Persija President Mohamad Prapanca said Thomas Doll's figure had met the expected criteria. Career as a player and coach is quite classy so it is hoped that he will be able to maintain the glory of Persija.

"We have agreed to work together. Thomas Doll is ready to carry out his duties as Persija coach. Of course we really hope he can lift the team's performance even better," said Prapanca.

Thomas Doll is a very experienced figure in football. While active as a player, he was recorded for strengthening Hansa Rostock, BFC Dynamo, Hamburger SV, Lazio, Eintracht Frankfurt, and AS Bari.

Meanwhile, when he was a coach he had experience coaching Hamburgers SV, Borussia Dortmund, Genclerbirligi, Al-Hilal, Ferencvaros, Hanover 96, and APOEL Nicosia.

While dealing with Ferencvaros, he collected three Hungarian Cup Winner titles, two Hungarian Champion trophies (2), and once won the Hungarian League Cup.

Before bringing in Thomas Doll, Persija had already moved to prepare the composition of the players. Firza Andika, Hanif Sjahbandi, and Hansamu Yama Pranata are the three new recruits.

Meanwhile, Maman Abdurahman, Tony Sucipto, and Osvaldo Haay are the players who agreed to extend the contract. They will fight with the names that are still tied to Persija.
