JAKARTA - PSSI summoned 40 players to undergo a training camp (TC) for the U-16 national team on 15-25 April 2022 in Jakarta in preparation for the AFF U-16 Cup and the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualification in 2022.

"I hope TC runs smoothly. I ask the coaches to train the players properly and correctly. The players must work hard, be disciplined and focused to improve their mental, ability, physical and performance," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, quoted by Antara. from the PSSI website in Jakarta, Thursday.

Iriawan also instructed the players to focus on undergoing TC even though they were fasting.

Meanwhile, the Bima Sakti U-16 national team coach said that the 40 players who were called up for TC came from competitions held by PSSI such as the U-15 Soeratin Cup, Elite Pro Academy (EPA) and regional selection by PSSI Provincial Associations.

Several names from the March TC, which was held on March 3-12, 2022 and participated by 34 players, said Bima was again included in the list of the latest TC players.

"There are approximately 20 new players from our monitoring results in the U-15 Soeratin Cup and the EPA as well as the Asprov regional selection. They are talents that may not have been monitored before," said Bima.

The 46-year-old tactician targets to be able to form a strong U-16 national team so that they can compete in international competitions.
