JAKARTA - The men's singles badminton player, Jonatan Christie, had to give up his first title at the super 500 level. That hope was dashed after a 77-minute battle against the Chinese representative, Weng Hong Yang in the final of the Korea Open 2022.

Regarding the course of the match, the third seeded men's singles had actually performed well in the first game by securing a 21-12 advantage. Jonathan even almost confirmed the title because he was already leading 19-16 in the second game.

However, the situation reversed when Weng snatched five straight points and secured the second game. The situation heated up when he entered the decisive game, because Weng played more confidently while Jonathan made a lot of mistakes himself.

"In the second game, he was 19-16 ahead and there were several times he had the ball down and I tried to kill him, but he was still able to hold on. I think the opponent is good and quite ready at a moment like that," explained Jojo.

Jonathan also considered that his opponent had a very strong effort at crucial points. While he actually had difficulty implementing a strategy well at that moment, so that the situation could be taken advantage of.

"There is a luck factor, but he is really trying his best and doesn't want to lose. In the third game he was more comfortable and confident after being able to escape the pressure."
