Sports Are Not Allowed To Depart Independently To SEA Games 2021, CdM Chair: The Sentence Is Not A Prohibition

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Chief de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2021 SEA Games, Ferry Kono, spoke about the discourse on sports (sports) to dispatch athletes independently. According to him, the mechanism is not possible.

However, he refused if it was called forbidding sports or athletes to go independently to the Hanoi SEA Games. According to him, the policy has been decided together by considering the impact.

"The sentence is not a prohibition. The policy of not sending (sports or athletes) at independent costs is an agreement between the government and KOI and KONI after considering the impact," said Ferry Kono when contacted by VOI, Friday, April 8.

The man who is also the Secretary General of NOC Indonesia added that it is impossible for any sports or athletes to depart independently at the 2021 SEA Games.

When asked whether there will be sanctions given to sports or athletes who remain determined, Ferry Kono believes that this will not happen. The reason is, there must still be an accreditation process that is passed.

"This mechanism is not possible because the registration for accreditation is carried out by the NOC. Athletes and sports cannot play in multi-events without accreditation. In contrast to single-event events that are carried out by sports themselves," he said.

Previously, the Deputy Chair of the CdM Indonesian contingent for the 2021 SEA Games, Tubagus Ade Lukman, requested that sports that were not sent to Hanoi continue to run the coaching program. This is in order to improve performance in order to represent Indonesia in the next multi-event.

"We hope that the sport must show its achievements in a single event that is always there for each sport," said Ade Lukman.

There were 14 sports that ultimately did not go to the SEA Games 2021 Hanoi. This decision was taken by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) after obtaining the results of the analysis from the National Sports Achievement Improvement Review Team (PPON).
