Who Should Coach Manchester United Next Season, Erik Ten Hag Or Mauricio Pochettino? This Is Wayne Rooney's Choice

JAKARTA - The position of Manchester United manager for next season is still a puzzle. Although there are already several names that have become candidates, the Red Devils management has not yet made a choice.

Previously, the coach of Ajax Amsterdam, Erik ten Hag, was called a strong candidate. However, there are also those who favor Paris Saint-Germain coach, Mauricio Pochettino, as the next Manchester United manager.

Former Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney, is among those who prefer Pochettino over Ten Hag. He considered that the Argentinean already had experience in the English Premier League.

As is known, Pochettino previously coached two Premier League clubs, namely Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

"Pochettino already has a track record in the Premier League. He knows this league. If I had to choose between the two, I would choose Pochettino," Rooney told Sky Sports, as reported by Antara.

However, Rooney said, Pochettino still needs time if he later joins Manchester United. He believes the former Argentina national team player can do his job well.

Rooney does not seem to think too much about the record on paper during Pochettino's coaching Southampton and Tottenham. He also didn't really highlight Pochettino's work at PSG, which was only able to win in his own country, while in Europe it was still not successful.

"Pochettino is a top manager and he knows how to work with top class players as well as young players. They (United) need to get the ingredients right because they can't fail again," he said.

Manchester United currently sit seventh in the table with 51 points with eight games to play this season, including a trip to Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday 9 April.
