Unable To Pay Wolves IDR 546 Billion, Barcelona Opens The Door For Tottenham To Recruit Adama Traore

JAKARTA – Tottenham Hotspur's desire to get the services of Adama Traore may be realized this summer. This is because of the financial problems facing Barcelona.

The speculation was conveyed by journalist Pete O'Rourke. He said the financial problems faced by the Blaugrana recently made it difficult for them to meet the asking price of Wolverhampton Wanderers as the owner of Traore.

"That [financial problems] could open the door for Tottenham to re-talk Traore. They thought they might get him in January. They were quite hopeful a deal could be done before Barcelona came and lure Traore back to the Nou Camp," O'Rourke was quoted as saying by Give Me. Sport.

Spurs have actually been linked with Traore in the last two transfer windows. However, the 26-year-old prefers to move to Barcelona in January as a loan player until the end of this season.

Barcelona have the option to sign the La Masia dropout permanently at the end of the loan period. The La Liga giants are required to pay 29 million pounds or IDR 546 billion if they take this option.

However, club president Joan Laporta has admitted they may not have the funds to pay Wolves' asking price. This means Traore's stay at the Nou Camp could be short.

Laporta has revealed that Barcelona will make the final decision on whether or not to sign Traore permanently at the end of the season.

If Traore is willing to join Tottenham, it means he is also willing to play as a full-back in Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 formation. The Italian has demanded a lot from his full-backs, but neither Emerson Royal nor Matt Doherty have been very convincing on the right flank this season.

For that reason, Traore is almost certainly a better fit for this role. However, while at Barcelona he played much higher as a winger and has had four assists so far.

Thus, Traore will only be a surplus if he only wants to play according to his role at Barcelona when he joins Tottenham later. The reason is that currently the Spurs already have Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, all of whom can cover the right wing.
