KONI Secretary General Ferry Kono Appointed As Chief De Mission Of The Indonesian Team For The Hanoi SEA Games

JAKARTA – Secretary General of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KONI) Ferry Kono was officially appointed as Chief de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi. He was assisted by Tubagus Ade Lukman as a representative.

Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali determined the composition of the Indonesian team in the announcement of the Indonesian contingent in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 30. Helping the two figures were Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman (Deputy I) and Zaenal Asikin Mochtar (Deputy II).

"Because the Indonesian Olympic Committee is in charge of national sports relations, Chef de Mission is led by Ferry Kono as Secretary General of KONI," said Amali at the Auditorium of the Menpora Office, Jakarta.

Ferry is an experienced figure in the field of sports. He is the General Treasurer of the CdM Olympic Games 2016 Rio de Janeiro, CdM Special Olympic Games (SOINA) 2019 Abu Dhabi, in charge of the CdM SEA Games 2019 Manila and also the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Ade Lukman was part of the 2012 London Olympics CdM Team, 2013 Incheon Asian Indoor & Martial Art, 2014 Incheon Asian Games and Singapore 2015 SEA Games CdM Representative.

As for Arlan, who is also the Executive Committee of NOC Indonesia, the 2019 Manila SEA Games CdM Team and also the Tokyo Olympics. Then, Asikin served as Deputy CdM SEA Games 2019 Manila and Deputy CdM Olympic 2020 Tokyo.

"It is an honor for me to be trusted to be the CdM of the SEA Games Vietnam. This challenge is not easy, but with the synergy of all parties, I and the CdM Team will try optimally so that our athletes can leave and compete comfortably so that Indonesia can provide achievements," said Ferry.

The 2021 SEA Games Hanoi will be held on May 12-23. Indonesia sent as many as 476 athletes from 32 sports.

The Indonesian contingent has 738 personnel consisting of 476 athletes, 207 officials, and 55 headquarters. Indonesia competes in 32 sports, namely weightlifting, athletics, bicycle racing, badminton, karate, shooting, archery, pencak silat, swimming, artistic gymnastics, taekwondo, wushu, canoeing and rowing which are part of the DBON sports branch. The last two sports are shaded by a national federation, namely PODSI.

While the other 18 sports are fencing, bowling, chess, esports, wrestling, jujitsu, judo, kickboxing, diving, men's soccer, sepak takraw, tennis, boxing, triathlon, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, vovinam, and golf.

The 31st SEA Games will feature 40 sports with 526 event numbers. This is the second time Vietnam has appeared as the host of the prestigious biennial multi-event in the Southeast Asia region. The last time Vietnam hosted it was in 2003.
