JAKARTA – World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) legend Triple H announced his retirement from wrestling at the age of 52. The decision was made following the health problems he was facing.

Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, suffers from serious heart disease and had to undergo surgery in September last year.

The wrestler nicknamed 'The Game' lately has rarely been seen both in the ring and backstage for the WWE event that catapulted his popularity.

Triple H officially resigned from WWE in an interview with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN's First Take.

"@TripleH announces his retirement from in-ring competition @espn @firsttake with @stephenasmith," WWE wrote on their Twitter account.

Previously Triple H coughed up blood after contracting viral pneumonia. He then did an examination and found that there was fluid in his lungs and around his heart.

He was then placed on a defibrillator after suffering a very low ejection fracture to 12.

Triple H won 14 world championships during his illustrious career and is one of the best wrestlers ever.

Triple H began his stint in wrestling as 'Terra Ryzing' in the IWF. He then moved to WCW in 1994 and became known as 'Jean-Paul Lévesque'.
