South Korea Slaughtered U-19 National Team 7-0, Ketum PSSI: It Takes Time, This Team Is Still In Progress

JAKARTA - PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said that the U-19 national team was still in the process of getting better after being defeated by the South Korean U-19 national team with a score of 7-0 in a friendly match held in Daegu, Friday.

"It takes time and this team is still in the process," said Iriawan, quoted by Antara from the PSSI website in Jakarta, Friday.

The man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule also hopes that the U-19 national team coach Shin Tae-yong can evaluate the performance of his foster children and get an overview of the current strength of his squad.

Iriawan also hopes that the squad nicknamed Garuda Nusantara will continue to improve their capabilities.

"We have learned a valuable lesson against South Korea, whose ability is above us. Players must work harder, be disciplined and improve their abilities during their training camp in South Korea," said the retired police officer with the last rank of Commissioner General.

In the match against South Korea's U-19 national team, Indonesia was already four goals behind in the first half through Eum Seung-min, Lee Seung-won and Kang Min-jae (two goals).

The match ended with the score 0-7 after Yu Seung-hyeon, Seo Jae-won and Cho Dong-jae scored additional goals in the second half.

It was the second defeat of the Indonesian U-19 national team in South Korea because previously, Monday, March 22, they were defeated by the Yeungnam University team with a score of 1-5.

Furthermore, the Indonesian U-19 national team will test the strength of the Daegu University squad, Sunday the day after tomorrow. After that, "Garuda Nusantara" will be back against the South Korean U-19 national team on Tuesday next week.

The U-19 national team underwent a training camp (TC) and several test matches in South Korea to prepare for the U-20 World Cup in 2023.
