Appearing In The Opening Series, Sean Gelael Wins Podium In 1000 Miles Of Sebring

JAKARTA - Indonesian racer Sean Gelael and Team WRT who also appeared in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) managed to make a good record by successfully grabbing the podium.

In the series opener 1000 Miles of Sebring Sean Gelael, Robin Frijns and Rene Rast, managed to finish second in the LMP2 1000 Miles of Sebring class.

Sean's car number 31 was slightly ahead of Team WRT's second car number 41 driven by Rui Andrade, Ferdinand Habsburg and Norman Nato.

Before finally securing the podium, from the start the WRT car was deemed not very good because it was not friendly to the hot weather during the race. At the beginning of the round the journey was not too smooth.

But the situation then changed when the competition resumed after previously being stopped due to Jose Maria Lopez (Toyota) having a terrible accident. The position of WRT then continued to creep up with a margin that was also trimmed. Even the two positions they secure very comfortably.

"Of course I am happy with this result. Finishing in second place was a good start, and for the WRT team it was even better because it finished in second and third. We certainly want to win and that can only be achieved with hard work. The season is still long," said Sean in a written statement, Saturday, March 19.

Apart from today, the race itself was disrupted because about an hour before the finish a storm lurked the circuit. Race Director, Eduardo Freitas then decided to stop racing again.

The strongest reason is because according to the local law, if there is a storm, the residents must be protected. And the marshals who served in the open field also had to be protected, so the race had to be stopped. However, because it was raining and night was approaching, the race was finally declared over.
