JAKARTA - The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) has completed a review of 40 sports to determine a map of the strengths and potential medals that can be won by Red and White in the 2021 SEA Games Vietnam, 12-23 May.

The review which took place on March 9-14 was also carried out to determine the number of athletes and sports that would be dispatched to the SEA Games, given the government's limited budget for the biennial multievent.

The results of the meeting will then be finalized in the KOI Executive Committee meeting to then become a recommendation material to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

"As a team, we need two or three days to discuss the results of this review with the Executive Committee to discuss what athletes and sports are leaving for the SEA Games and then it becomes our recommendation to be given to the Ministry of Youth and Sports," said Secretary General of KOI Ferry J Kono, quoted from Between, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the KOI Sport and Development Commission, Calvin Legawa, said that coordination with the parent sports organization went smoothly. His party has also pocketed sports and athletes with potential medals at the SEA Games later.

However, he did not mention specifically the results of the review obtained, because it still needs to be discussed in the Executive Committee meeting.

The 31st SEA Games Vietnam featured 526 events from 40 sports. The venues are spread out not only in Hanoi, but also in other supporting cities such as Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh.

KOI will take part in the second Chef de Mission Meeting next week which will be virtualized by the Vietnam SEA Games Organizing Committee (VIGOC). Indonesia initially planned to send a delegation, but it was canceled due to the soaring number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam.
