JAKARTA - Prospective Chelsea buyer, Nick Candy, once paid singer Katy Perry £1.2 million (Rp22.4 billion). What for?

Candy emerged as one of the bidders for the Chelsea club after the British Government imposed sanctions on Roman Abramovich, the current owner.

Abramovich was disqualified as director of the Blues by the Premier League thus paving the way for the club to be sold. It doesn't stop there, the Russian billionaire will certainly not receive a profit from the sale.

British entrepreneur, Candy has a property business. He has a net worth of around £1.5 billion (Rp28.1 trillion) with his brother.

While that was not enough to buy Chelsea, given that a Saudi-based consortium had put in a much larger bid of £2.7 billion, the fact that Candy could afford American diva Katy Perry.

Eit, don't think about it first. Perry was asked by Candy to sing for guests at her wedding to Strictly Come Dancing and Neighbors star Holly Valance in September 2012.

According to Hello Magazine, the couple shelled out more than £3 million for the four days of celebration, which included performances from hits like Last Friday Night, Hot n Cold and Roar.

The event which was held in Los Angeles was attended by famous names such as Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, Simon Cowell, Tracy Emin and Nancy Dell'Olio.
