Call Inter Highly Motivated Against Liverpool, Inzaghi: The Players Are Focused And Know What Awaits

JAKARTA - Inter coach Simone Inzaghi admits that he and his team are highly motivated ahead of the match against Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, Tuesday night local time.

Quoted from Antara from the club's official website, Tuesday, Inzaghi explained that the results in the first leg disappointed him and the team because Inter were able to put in a good performance and the match at Anfield they will face one of the best teams in Europe.

"The result of the first leg is very disappointing because we played well. The match at Anfield will be very difficult against one of the best teams in Europe, but our motivation is very high," said Inzaghi.

The Italian coach said Inter need to score in the first half to make a big difference, although it won't be easy.

Inzaghi said he only had three days to prepare the team to face Liverpool, having previously beaten Salernitana 5-0 in Week 28 of the Italian League on Friday evening local time.

The former Lazio coach said his team realized Liverpool were one of the best teams in Europe and it was difficult to beat the Reds at home.

"We went into this match down and of course scoring a goal in the first half could make a big difference. It won't be easy, but we have three days to prepare," explained Inzaghi.

"The players are focused and know what awaits. Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe and they are even more difficult to beat at home."

Inter must win the game by three goals over Liverpool if they are to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.

In the previous meeting, Inter had to admit Liverpool's advantage with a 0-2 score after Samir Handanovic's goal was scored by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah at the San Siro Stadium, Milan, three weeks ago.
