JAKARTA - The coach of Shakhtar Donetsk is one of the latest victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

Club CEO Serhiy Palkin took to Facebook to confirm the sad news on Thursday, citing that a fragment from a Russian bullet was the cause of the coach's death.

The Shakhtar leader also appealed to the Russian people to stand up to the president of the Red Bear Country, Vladimir Putin following the horrific attacks in Ukraine.

"One of our employees was killed yesterday. He was a children's coach. He was killed by Russian shrapnel," in a heartbreaking post, Palkin wrote without naming the coach quoted by the Daily Star, Friday.

In his appeal to the Russian people, Palkin added that in sport, fear is a feeling that reduces the chances of winning to zero.

"Your fear is to speak out against the war in Ukraine destroying cities, your fear is the thousands of deaths among the civilian population, your fear is the deaths of children and the fate of millions of people being mutilated," he continued.

Earlier this week, Shakhtar managed to evacuate a number of their Brazilian players to Romania following the Russian invasion.

The Ukrainian club also confirmed that Dynamo Kyiv and SK Dnipro-1 had also succeeded in removing foreign players from the war-torn country.
