JAKARTA - Roman Abramovich has stated his intention to sell Chelsea. The reason is the sanctions imposed by the British government in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After 19 years of building Chelsea, Abramovich was finally forced to leave.

Not yet confirmed who will be the new owner of Chelsea. However, Abramovich is believed to be releasing his club in the next few days if there is the right offer.

A number of names are reportedly interested in buying Chelsea. However, there are four names mentioned as potential candidates.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Wealth: 6.33 billion pounds

He was the richest person in the UK in 2018, now in the 25th position. Based in Monaco, he is the chairman and majority owner of the chemical powerhouse, Ineos Group.

Jim Ratcliffe is also known to be a shareholder of French club Nice, and owns a professional cycling team, Ineos Grenadiers.

Ratcliffe is actually a fan of Chelsea's rivals, Manchester United. However, he is known to have a Chelsea season ticket, you know!

So, it's not impossible that he could be the new boss of Thomas Tuchel's squad.

Stephen Ross

Wealth: 6 billion pounds

Perhaps this figure will be the most controversial choice. He was the one most involved in the idea of the Europe Super League.

He also initiated the International Champions Cup tournament, a pre-season tournament that brings together the best teams in Europe.

Ross makes a lot of money as a real estate developer. He is also known as the majority shareholder in Related Companies, a company he founded in 1972.

He is also known as the owner of the NFL club, Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium.

Todd Boehly

Wealth: 4 billion pounds (Rp. 76 trillion)

This US tycoon once stated that he was interested in buying Chelsea in 2019. However, at that time the offer worth 3 billion pounds was rejected by Roman Abramovich.

Boehly is chairman and CEO of Eldridge Industries, a private investment firm.

He is also known as the owner of the NBA club, the Los Angeles Lakers. The LA Dodgers and LA Sparks teams are also his.

Hansjorg Wyss

Wealth: 4 billion pounds (Rp 76 trillion)

The oldest potential investor is 86 years old. He is the one who claims to have an offer from Roman Abramovich to buy Chelsea.

"Abramovich wants to sell his house in England, he also wants to get out of Chelsea," said Hansjorg.

He admitted, there were three other people who were also offered Abramovich. However, he did not know for sure how much the English Premier League club was selling.

Wyss is the founder of Synthes USA, the world's largest manufacturer of medical devices. The majority of his wealth came from the sale of Johnson & Johnson.
