JAKARTA – Indonesian boxer Ongen Saknosiwi is in final preparations ahead of a duel with Thai boxer Rattakorn Tassaworn. The fight is for the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title (57.1kg).

Ongen is scheduled to face Rattakorn on March 4. The second fight was held at the World Siam Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand.

"The preparations have been very good and I am ready to fight. We continue to make final preparations and the sparring partner is complete. We just have to focus on technique and we will hand over all training programs to the coach," said Ongen, quoted by Antara.

The boxer from Buru Island, Maluku, is currently preparing himself with Daud Jordan in North Kayong, West Kalimantan. Daud will also appear in the main party at the same location and date as Ongen.

Daud will defend his WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver super lightweight (63.5kg) title against another host boxer, Panya Uthok. Previously the 34-year-old boxer was set to face Hwang Kil Him, but his opponent from South Korea withdrew due to an injury in training.

MPRO International President Director Gustiantira Alandy said that Ongen and Dadu would leave for Thailand on March 1.

"We do not need to linger in Thailand because the distance is not too far and there is no time difference," he said.

This will be Ongen's first duel after two years of absence from the ring. The 28-year-old boxer last fought against Filipino boxer Marco Demecillo at Jatim Park, East Java, on November 17, 2019.

Ongen has a good record since making his professional debut on November 23, 2016. He is yet to accept defeat in the eight matches (7 KOs) he has played.
