2,500 Racing Team Officials Will Be Present At The Mandalika MotoGP

JAKARTA – As many as 2,500 racing team officials will be present at the Mandalika MotoGP. Lombok International Airport is ready to accommodate all team needs.

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, in a virtual press conference on Monday, February 21.

"At the time of MotoGP, it is estimated that there will be 2,500 officials and the International Airport is also ready to accept charter flights," said Airlangga.

Previously, the MotoGP team group had held a pre-season test at Mandalika on 11-13 February. At that time they arrived in Lombok on two different flights with chartered planes.

Airlangga ensured that at the time of the grand prix, the Mandalika Circuit could accommodate 100 thousand spectators. This amount is in accordance with the organizer's initial target and was approved by President Joko Widodo last January.

"The audience capacity has been prepared for 100,000 and the Ministry of Home Affairs has also prepared for the prevention and control of COVID-19 in organizing MotoGP," said Airlangga.

The Mandalika Circuit is currently in preparation for resurfacing according to recommendations from Dorna Sport and the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM). This process covers approximately 17.5 percent of the path.

During the pre-season test, the Mandalika Circuit was in the spotlight due to several problems. Among them are the cleanliness of the track surface due to the large amount of aggregate, such as sand, dust, gravel, and stone fragments that are on the track.

The Mandalika MotoGP will be held on March 18-20, 2022. The Indonesian pride circuit will be the second series this season after the first grand prix in Losail, Qatar, which will take place from 4-6 March.
