JAKARTA - PSSI stated that the case of the match week 22 of the Indonesian League 1 Persipura versus Madura United, which was canceled because Persipura did not attend until the match on Monday, would be resolved according to regulations.

"Everyone must comply with it, without exception," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, quoted from a statement from PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) received in Jakarta, Monday.

PSSI itself received a report about the match from competition operator PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB).

LIB President Director Akhmad Hadian Lukita said that his party gave the report after studying all the chronology and detailed facts including the report about the match from the "match commissioner".

"After receiving a report from the 'match commissioner', we reported everything to PSSI and submitted the status of the Persipura versus Madura United match to the PSSI Disciplinary Commission. We did everything in accordance with regulations," said Akhmad Hadian, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 22.

LIB itself stated that the match should have been able to be held even though Persipura had asked for a postponement because they thought that too many players had tested positive for COVID-19.

LIB considers that, based on the results of the COVID-19 swab test, Persipura has 21 players with negative status or more than 14 people, so there is no need to postpone the match.

"There are no extraordinary events related to COVID-19. This is the case like the 1973 Persikabo versus Bali United game a few weeks ago. The match continues. We are all ready. LOC, referee, security, are already at the stadium. Madura United team also have arrived at the stadium," said Director of Operations LIB Sudjarno.

So, with the submission of the Persipura versus Madura United case to the Disciplinary Committee, PSSI based its decision on the PSSI Disciplinary Code.

If Persipura is convicted of not being present at the match venue or refusing to compete, then the "Black Pearl" squad is threatened with severe sanctions, namely a reduction of nine points in the standings and a minimum fine of IDR 1 billion.

The penalty is contained in Article 58 of the PSSI Disciplinary Code which regulates "a team that is not present at the match venue and refuses to compete".

Paragraph 1 of the article states that, "If the match cannot be carried out because the team concerned is not present at the match venue even though it has been properly scheduled and notified in advance without a valid reason, it is considered refusing to compete and the team or club responsible for the match is sanctioned as losing. 0-3 with a deduction of points (forfeit) and a fine of at least Rp. 150,000,000 (one hundred and fifty million rupiah).In the event that a violation is committed by a club participating in League 1 or League 2, the club concerned shall be subject to a sanction of being declared lost (forfeit) by a reduction of 9 (nine) points and a fine of at least Rp. 1,000,000,000 (one billion rupiah)".

Then, in the second paragraph, the Disciplinary Code opens the possibility of additional sanctions for clubs that refuse to play or are absent from matches, in accordance with Article 11, ranging from transfer bans to relegation.

Finally, the third paragraph states that if a player or official is found who orders him not to compete, the person will be punished with not being able to play football-related activities for at least 24 months and a minimum fine of IDR 100 million.
